Phased Array Improvements – ISonic 2009 UPA Scope

PRESS RELEASE

PHASED ARRAY INSTRUMENT IMPROVEMENTS

Advanced NDT Ltd is pleased to announce extra testing facilities are now available for the ISonic 2009 UPA Scope Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detector.

Since its release last year, the ISonic 2009 UPA Scope Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detectorhas led the field with its inbuilt capabilities.

These include: Skip corrected images which invert the second half skip to show defects in the correct position and orientation on the S-scan, Gain correction per angle which ensures a uniform testing sensitivity over the whole scan area, Ray Tracing for simplifying set ups by showing the operator the UT coverage of the test object and Tandem B-scan for planar, vertically oriented defects.

New facilities are now available for the ISonic 2009 UPA Scope Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detector.

Multi Group Inspection.

This allows the use of several different inspection set ups simultaneously, to inspect different zones of a component, or different techniques to detect varying types or orientation of defect.

Multiple S-Scans or B-scans may be displayed to show the results from each set up.

This feature improves the coverage of the scan without any time penalty making the inspection safer and more cost effective. Each set up may be optimised for a particular task and then run together as a normal inspection.

True to Geometry Imaging.

This allows the cross sectional imaging of tubes and bars to show the extent, orientation and position of defects around the component saving time and easing reporting.

Three Dimensional Imaging with Matrix Probes.

The ISonic 2009 UPA Scope Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detector can now be used with 3-D matrix probes. 3-D Ray Tracing allows the selection of a Zone of Interest. The sound beam is swept through this area, creating a 3-D image without being dependent on probe movement. All the raw data is captured allowing the A-scan at any point to be reviewed at a later time.

The ISonic 2009 UPA Scope Phased Array Ultrasonic Flaw Detectorcomplements the other phased array instruments available from Advanced NDT Ltd. These are the ISonic 2010 light weight portable phased array instrument and the ISonic PA AUT systems unit which will operate up to 256 channels for use in the field or for on line industrial processes.
