Biometrics comprises methods for uniquely recognizing humans based upon one or more intrinsic physical or behavioural traits. In the door hardware industry in particular, biometrics is used as a form of identity management for access control purposes.

As door hardware specialists the biometric characteristics we are interested in are physiological, i.e. related to the shape of the body.

Examples include, but are not limited to, fingerprint, face recognition, palm print, hand geometry and iris recognition.
