Galloway's Gain From Signed Ball Auction
Business ServicesBusinessGiftUK.com will be handing over £35 to Galloway's Society for the Blind thanks to two online auctions that sparked the interests of Wigan's sports fans.
On the weekend that the town's football club won the FA Cup and the rugby league team reached the quarter finals of the Challenge Cup, the Leyland-based promotional item suppliers auctioned off two signed balls on eBay – one featuring Wigan Athletic's 1986/87 FA Cup quarter finalists team, and the other a 1999 souvenir with the signatures of the final Wigan Warriors squad that played at Central Park.
The two auctions ended over the course of Wigan's winning weekend, with a number of keen bidders kindly putting their hands in their pockets to secure the rare merchandise that was donated to BusinessGiftUK.com by one of its long-standing clients, who had acquired the balls in person after attending games at both clubs as a sponsor.
Marketing manager Adrian Ward, a regular attendee of both clubs' games, said:
"It was a great weekend to be a fan of both Wigan clubs, and the dream of having the two major UK cups in the same town is now tantalisingly close.
"I'm sure that sense of goodwill around Wigan will have sparked extra interest in the balls and we're delighted that we've been able to generate awareness and a donation for a charity just a few miles down the road that helps so many people with visual impairments."
