About Wilson Process Systems

Wilson Process Systems Limited was formed in Hastings, East Sussex in 1981 by Gordon Wilson and his two sons Tim and Nick. Gordon had previously been Manager of the Industrial Engineering Department of ITT Consumer Electronics since 1961 where some two thousand people were employed when they closed their Hastings site.

WPS was initially engaged in the manufacture of equipment used to recover precious metals from photographic and other industrial processes.

After some three years, the company diversified. Initially manufacturing printed circuit boards and later into sub-contract electronics and electro-mechanical assemblies.

The metal recovery side of the business was finally halted in the late 1980’s. Since then WPS have expanded, purchasing two adjoining factory units and an aditional factory unit a short distance from the main site, resulting in a combined floor area of approximately 30,000 square feet. The number of staff has also grown to around 100 members and turnover is now in excess of £10 Million.

To maintain our world wide competitiveness, we are continually investing in the very latest technology including fully automated equipment for both the manufacture and test of through-hole and surface-mount electronic assemblies. This equipment coupled with approvals to ISO9001:2008 and BABT standards as well as those of major international Manufacturers, has ensured a consistent growth, putting us among the top employers in Hastings. During 1997 the company was placed in the top 500 in the UK by Commerce Directories in their National Star Performers reference for the top 1000 fastest growing companies in the country.

Gordon Wilson took an active role as Chairman of the Company until he sadly died in 2003, at the age of 70. He will always be fondly remembered as a tremendously dedicated and courageous character; despite losing his sight, he was in the Guinness Book of Records in 2000 for breaking the World Speed Record for a Blind Solo Motorcyclist on his Triumph Daytona!
